Welcome to Brian Wicklund's Fiddle Pal Camp New England in Newtonville, MA for four days of instruction and fun. Brian has hand picked an fabulous staff for his fiddle camp of amazingly talented teachers and musicians who will teach great music and the skills to play it. Students will learn bluegrass, Canadian, Appalachian, Irish, and blues for fiddle, cello, and guitar. We also plan time to kick the soccer ball, hang out with new friends, have a barn dance, and join the amazing staff for a concert

Teaching Staff:

Brian Wicklund –Fiddle (Minnesota) hosts the Fiddle Pal Camp. Author of the best-selling fiddle books The American Fiddle Method, Brian teaches dozens of workshops and fiddle camps each year internationally, inspiring students and entertaining them with his wacky sense of humor. He tours with bands Brother Mule and The Barley Jacks. He has recorded many critically acclaimed CDs. www.fiddlepal.com

 

 

Lissa Schneckenburger –Fiddle (Vermont) grew up in the rich fiddle music tradition of New England known for its melding of influences from British Isles and Quebec. This New England Conservatory graduate is in high demand as a teacher across the US and tours with her band in the US and Europe. www.lissafiddle.com

 

Megan Gregory –Fiddle (Tennesee) grew up in the heart of bluegrass. She graduated from East Tennessee University and taught at prestigious camps and festivals across the US. She fronts the band Meridian, plays with numerous other ensembles and teaches legions of students.

 

Ariel Friedman–Cello (Massachusetts) won ASTA 2009 Alternateve Styles Awad. She is in a Masters Degree program at New England Conservatory. Her diverse musicality adds to performances with champion fiddler Hanneke Cassel, Long Time Courting, Childsplay and with her sister Mia. www.ariandmiafriedman.com

 

 

Flynn Cohen –Guitar (Massachusetts) has performed internationally with many traditional and contemporary acoustic groups. He studied music in England and California and is on the music department staff at Keene State College in NH. www.flynncohen.net.

 

 

 

Ability Levels

Fiddle classes are open to anyone with a minimum of one year of study on the instrument and can play with ease in first position. Guitar players should be able to make chords easily and be prepared to play with a pick. Cellists must be comfortable playing music with extended fourth finger.

Healthful morning and afternoon snacks will be provided. Students should bring a packed lunch. We’ll picnic outside weather permitting.
